Quick Guide
To get started quickly, follow these steps:
- Install the Clipnote extension, then sign up & log in.
- Duplicate the template to create your Notion database.
- Set up your Notion integration & copy the Secret (API) code.
- Connect the database to the integration & copy the Database ID.
- In Clipnote settings, enter the API & ID, then click save.
While reading, click the Clipnote icon or right-click in your browser to start clipping. When finished, click Clip to Notion. Then all your notes will be saved in Notion, ready for you to review & use.
Notion Integration Secret
- Click here to see if you already have integration. If not, click "new integration."
- Pick the workspace where you want to send reading clips, set the type to "internal," skip the logo, and click "save."
- Then, you'll see the Internal Integration Secret (hidden at default). Click "show" and copy it for later.
Database ID
- Click here to duplicate (top right icon) the clipnote template to your workspace.
- After making your note page, click "share" in the top right and pick "copy link." This won't make your page public.
- Find your database ID in the URL and copy it for later.
It's the string of characters that comes after your database name, between the / and the ?.
For example: 97901042aeec44f784408ace52b7643b in this URL: https://www.notion.so/clipnotes/97901042aeec44f784408ace52b7643b?v=a4f109b8f13e40488b4f36851fd77f22&pvs=4
Connect Databae to Integration
- Click the the top right icon on the Notion page you just created.
- Choose "connections / connect to" from the menu, pick the integration you made earlier.
- Click "confirm."
Avoid making any changes. Notion is STRICT about the database structure saved through the API. Changing the template may cause an API schema mismatch, blocking data from being saved.
It's best to lock the database structure* (without affecting adding or deleting notes) after setup to prevent issues.
